Wigs and hair pieces have been around since the time of the ancient Egyptians and the Romans. The purpose and appeal of wearing these head accessories have changed from time to time throughout the centuries. Royalties and noblemen wore it as a status symbol around the 16th and 17th century. Today, barristers, judges and civic officials of most Commonwealth nations still wear special wigs that symbolize their office on certain occasions. Full wigs went out of fashion around the 19th to early 20th century but it seems to have made a strong come back in the recent years.
Not Just For Show
Since wigs went out of fashion, they became primarily used as props for movies or theater presentations and cover-ups for people who have hair problems. In the past three years, a number of celebrities, models and even socialites have been open about wearing wigs in events and parties just to give themselves fresh new hairstyles without subjecting their natural hair to stress. Aside from outfits, nails and hairstyles are also accents that fashion conscious individuals consider in creating their looks. Hair coloring and styling products are often part of their wardrobe essentials. Taking their cue from the stars, non-celebrities from different age groups also began to explore the use of artificial hairpieces for quick, convenient, and trendy hairstyles that can be changed on a daily basis.

Different Colors, Cut, Style
New hairstyles and hair colors are great options for a make-over but it can also cause damage to the hair in the long run. Those who want to sport different hairstyles on a regular basis can give their hair a styling break with the use of wigs. There is no need to put extra stress on your tresses when there are wigs that can give you a fresh new look in a flash. Plus, one can easily revert back to their original hairstyle just as quickly.
Synthetic Versus Real
Wig technology has gone a long way from the artificial looking pieces that feels uncomfortable to wear. There are now plenty of stylish and natural looking pieces available in the market. Just like any fashion accessory, wig shoppers can get the latest styles from 2013 Spring Collections like those of Jon Renau and Rachel Welch. Gone are the days when the wigs are simply for those who have thinning hair or bald spots. The wigs are no longer outcasts in daily fashion as more people start to appreciate their value for everyday styling. The question is, would you include these hair pieces in your fashion wardrobe?

I had real hair extensions. I had it in a bag to condition the hair and forgot about it. Ooops! All that money down the drain. I haven’t tried a wig but wouldn’t rule it out. It might be fun.
I think I would like to try different wigs if I could afford them.I have a friend that has a really lovely medium length blonde one that I like a lot.
i love wigs! human hair wigs are awesome!
I’m the daughter of a beautician so I like real hair lol.
I did some hair pieces in my time. Barbie pony tails & the straight look. I was checking out the site you posted here and must say that the Do Of The Day – Lea Michele is my favorite. This was fun thanks for posting!
i love the hair color
I LOVE THIS WEBSITE
I remember when I was little in the late 60s and my Mom would wear wigs – we used to like to play with the styrofoam heads that she stored them on!
I would like to try a wig just to change my look. I have long hair so I think I would opt for something short.
In addition to getting one in a short hairstyle I’d also choose a different color.
I’m not too crazy about them but I do occasionally wear them. I’m currently growing out and slowly cutting my processed ends and when I don’t feel like going through the process of doing my hair I just put one on. But they don’t help in the heat.
My girlfriend got 2 wigs this Christmas and wears them frequently. She wore one to my daughter’s baby shower and I was actually talking to my sister trying to figure who had crashed the party (it was at a restaurant) it wasn’t until I reached the table she was at that I figured it out – the wig looked very natural and totally transformed her!
I think it would be a fun way to try different hairstyles.
I really do not like wigs. I prefer real hair. But I confess that I do not like the clips with fake hair that you can clip to at least poof up the hair and make it easy.
My mom wears wigs, but I’m not big on wigs.
